The Elmsleigh Guest Lodge, in Broughton Road, is owned by John and Elaine Riley who spent just over a year completing an Eco renovation on their main house, aiming for Super Home recognition.

This award means that John and Elaine have one of only three properties in Scotland to receive such an award with the resulting carbon savings being estimated at more than 60 per cent.

Now the couple are throwing open their home this Sunday to offer a guided tour to interested people and will provide information on exactly how they managed to save so much energy.

These include external and internal wall insulation, a heat recovery unit and water saving devices. John said: “We are hoping that we will have several visitors coming along to see what we have done.

“This is a chance to see what can be done if you wish to cut your energy consumption.”

The guided tours will take place today (Sunday) from 11am to 4pm with tours starting on the hour, every hour.
