Last Tuesday, August 13, members of Cumbernauld House Trust and Cumbernauld Village Action for the Community (CVAC) visited Castlemilk Stables community facility.

The two groups are working on converting the former Cumbernauld Primary School building into a Community and Heritage Hub and the visit to Castlemilk Stables gave some useful insights into the development of a community facility.

On Wednesday, August 14, members of Cumbernauld Environmental Society met with Angela Smith of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). The meeting discussed potential new avenues for funding and support from the RHS for future Cumbernauld projects.

This weekend, from Friday to Sunday, August 23-25, Tesco Craigmarloch will host a Fun Fair from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The Fun Fair costs £1 entry with rides costing £1.50. All profits raised will be donated to Diabetes UK.

On Saturday, August 24, Cumbernauld YMCA/YWCA will be holding a Family Fun Day at their Playzone in Afton Road, Kildrum. The Family Fun Day includes a bouncy castle, treasure hunt, sumo suits, tombola, snacks and drinks, and more. The event takes place from noon to 3pm with entry costing £1 for adults and 50p for 
children.
