Cancer survivor backs information drive

A CUMBERNAULD woman who was successfully treated for cancer wants to highlight the support and information available for patients.

Two years ago, Allison Hernandez was diagnosed with breast cancer. Today, the 47-year-old is helping charity Cancer Research UK get the word out about the information and advice cancer patients can use to help get through their own treatment.

Married mum-of-two Allison said: “Dealing with the news that I had cancer was incredibly difficult.

“I have two young boys and the worst runs through your head. I was worried about them growing up without a mum more than I was worried about what was going to happen to me.”

She added: “Educating myself on my cancer and my treatment options made me feel much more in control and less anxious.

“I’m glad that I found Cancer Research UK’s website and online forum at such an early stage in my treatment and would really recommend both to others.”
