Park and Ride set for Carstairs

A planning application has been formally submitted to South Lanarkshire Council and given that the applicants were the council themselves it would be fair to say that the Park and Ride has a good chance of coming to fruition.

In the official design statement the council explain that the Park and Ride would provide 21 car parking spaces including four disabled parking bays and would be constructed on an area of vacant ground between number 2 and number 6a Strawfrank Road.

The statement continues: “The proposed facility will help to alleviate parking pressures on Strawfrank Road.

“The Park and Ride facility will also contain enhanced lighting and cycle parking.”

Ground investigations are currently being carried out on the site by the council.
