An open day will be held on Tuesday, April 19, between 10am-12pm, for people who are interested in becoming volunteer stewards for Mugdock Castle - the historic seat of the Clan Graham.

Help is needed to guide visitors round the historic castle tower at weekends during the busy summer period between May and September.

Volunteers will be given full training by the current crop of Mugdock Trust volunteers and park employees where they will learn all about the history of the castle.

Councillor Eric Gotts, chair of Mugdock Country Park Joint Management Committee, said: “Mugdock benefits considerably from the hard work and expertise which volunteering contributes to the park.

“We are now looking for enthusiastic people who can spare a little time to become guides and help some of the 600,000 people who visit the park each year find out a little more about its fascinating history.

“The park would not function as well as it does if it wasn’t for the exceptional volunteer involvement and support. It is genuinely invaluable.

“Why not join us on April 19 for a cup of tea, scone and a chat to find out more about this exciting volunteer opportunity?”
