Barrhead teenager raises thousands for Down’s syndrome charity

Thirteen-year-old Olivia Martin, a pupil at Luke’s High School, has two younger, brothers Ross and Louis.

Ross has Down’s syndrome and has been supported by the fantastic charity Down’s Syndrome Scotland, so over the last few years, Olivia has helped raise funds to support them.

Olivia explained: “In 2016 I held a coffee morning in my house for this charity and raised £3065.

“This year, in May, I held another, bigger coffee morning to raise funds for the charity in St John’s Church Hall.

“It was an amazing morning, it was a great turn out and everyone was so generous.

“I want to thank everyone that came and supported me – I managed to raise an amazing £5505!

“I would also like to say a huge thank you to all the local businesses and people who donated raffle prizes. Without everyones generosity it wouldn’t of been such a great success.”

Down’s Syndrome Scotland is a parent led charity which was established in 1982. It is the only charity in Scotland dedicated solely to supporting people with Down’s syndrome and their carers.

Down’s Syndrome Scotland provides “all through life” support across Scotland.
