Bright spark Graeme picks up awards

Graeme Hogg brought home a national award and a regional award after graduating from the Scottish Gas Training Academy at Hamilton.

Graeme was named National Homecare Apprentice of the Year and the best Homecare Apprentice of the Year to have graduated from the Hamilton British Gas Training Academy.

The 31-year-old, who now lives in Uddingston and works in Wishaw, used to work in the construction industry, but decided to join Scottish Gas as an apprentice engineer after friends recommended the scheme based on their quality of life and career prospects.

Graeme said: “I really enjoyed my time at the academy, especially meeting my new workmates and fellow trainees.

“The structure of the training was great; it was evenly split between on the job training and learning at the academy.

“I can’t thank all my trainers and mentors enough for their support during my training.”

Matthew Bateman, managing director for field operations at Scottish Gas said: “We’re thrilled with Graeme’s success in the Apprentice of the Year Awards.

“He has demonstrated a fantastic attitude, great skills, and I’m sure he will provide a great service to Scottish Gas customers in their homes.

“These model apprentices and have a bright future ahead of them and are testament to the comprehensive training we give our apprentices so they can provide excellent service to our customers.”
