Organisers will be taking advantage of the Glasgow City Council’s Street Play Initiative to close McCulloch Street and offer the opportunity for the kids to play safely.

The event will promote the work that community organisations are doing in the area, as well as highlight environmental themes as part of the PDA’s Pollokshields Goes Green project.

It will be a day of celebration, play and laughter, with open mike, performances by local talent, stand-up comedy, dancing, henna artists, traditional games for children and families, a residents’ Bake Off competition, and much, much more.

Naheed Asghar, Pollokshields Development Agency Project Manager, said: “I loved street parties in Pollokshields as a child and am looking forward to celebrating the community, enjoying the entertainment and promoting environmental awareness.”

Emma Iller, Urban Roots Project Manager, added: “We are looking forward to seeing a green corridor opened up between these well used greenspaces and hope that the day will continue to build on the strong sense of community spirit and growing environmental awareness in the area”.

The organisers ask everyone to kindly use alternative parking so that the access to McCulloch Street (from Kenmure Street to the end of the cul-de-sac) is left safe and free for the activities of the day.
