Cosgrove Care Volunteer extraordinaire celebrates his 60th birthday – the same year as Cosgrove!

Cosgrove Care celebrates its 60th birthday in 2020, and by happy coincidence, one of Cosgrove’s most dedicated volunteers, Richard Kaye, also turns 60 in December this year.

Richard has supported Cosgrove for over 30 years, dating back from Cosgrove’s roots in its original home at St. John’s Road, Pollokshields.

Richard’s volunteering history is full and varied – as a fundraising volunteer, he has organised 11 fundraising Tribute Concerts, which have raised over £30,000 for the charity. In addition, Richard helps every year with Cosgrove’s Care Phone Day, making phone calls for hours at a time to collect donations from generous supporters in the community.

He often has his Meg, his beloved dog and official Cosgrove mascot with him.

If this wasn’t enough, Richard has helped organise several Friday Night Dinner events, supported the Mental Health Shabbats at locally at shul, has been heavily involved in many sponsored events, and has been the official Cosgrove photographer at Cosgrove’s annual Sporting Dinner and other Cosgrove events over many years.

Cosgrove would like to say a very big “thank you” to Richard for all his support to date, Cosgrove’s CEO Heather Gray said, ‘Richard has been an incredible volunteer and has a real passion for the work of the organisation. His dedication and commitment for over 30 years has enhanced the lives of many people and we would like to wish Richard a very happy 60th Birthday on behalf of everyone at Cosgrove Care.’
