Dogs Trust Glasgow seeks to rehome ‘Lion King’ puppies

The four Patterdale cross Staffordshire Bull Terriers, aged 15 weeks old, have been named after famous Walt Disney characters from the film The Lion King, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

The four female puppies, named Nala, Kiara, Zira and Sarabi, were part of an unplanned litter and their owner did the responsible thing of bringing them to their local rescue centre.

Sandra Lawton, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Glasgow, said: “As the saying goes ‘hakuna matata’, which means ‘no worries’; and we will do everything we can to make sure these four gorgeous puppies live by this motto by finding them their special someone.

“The names we have given them match their fun and lively nature and it is also a great way of keeping track of dogs once they have gone off to their new homes, so that if we ever catch up with them later in life, we will know which litter they came from.

“We would always recommend that having your dog neutered is the most effective way of avoiding unplanned litters and there are so many benefits to dogs and their owners. Neutering can help to save money by preventing the unnecessary costs of unplanned pregnancies and raising puppies; as well as improving the general health and behaviour of our dogs.”

Due to their age, the puppies will be invited to attend Dogs Trust’s Dog School. Geared towards preventative training, Dog School supports new dog and puppy owners by helping them instil positive behavioural traits in their pets early on, so there is less chance of dogs having to undergo more intensive training later in life.

JohnPaul Maguire, Head Coach at Dogs School in Glasgow, said: “We look forward to welcoming the Lion King puppies and their owners once they have found their forever homes. Our puppy classes run over five weeks and each dog owner will receive training homework after the class to practise at home with their dog.
