Fire rips through house in Newton Mearns

A house in Newton Mearns has been badly damaged after fire broke out in the property yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, November 25).

Firefighters were called to the detached home in Ladeside Close just after 3pm, after reports of flames coming from an upstairs window.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 3.17pm on Wednesday, November 25, to reports of a dwelling fire on Ladeside Close, Newton Mearns.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene where crews worked to extinguish a fire affecting a two-storey detached house.

“There are no reported casualties.

“Firefighters left after making the area safe.”
