Greenfaulds schoolboy Sean raises £1300 for cancer research

An enterprising youngster from Greenfaulds organised a charity night which raised £1300 to help fight cancer.

Sean Lynch (13) is in S2 at Greenfaulds High School and previously attended Woodlands Primary. He organised a race night for Friday, September 30 and was delighted to raise £1300 on behalf of Cancer Research UK.

Sean wanted to fundraise for Cancer Research UK as many of his relatives and family friends have suffered from cancer.

On his own initiative he put the whole event together, from booking the venue and creating an online donations page and going around local businesses to secure raffle prizes.

Mum Marie said: “Sean loves charity work and a few years ago he held a quiz night for Comic Relief and SCIAF.”

Sean and his family are very grateful to everyone who supported this event and helped raise so much for charity.

The local companies involved were Ciara’s in Cumbernauld Village, Jackson’s Salon, Guidis, Palacerigg Golf Club who donated golf lessons, Regis Hair, Kiki’s boutique, Little Miss Sprinkles, The Griphouse MMA Gym in Glasgow, Dino8 in Chapelhall and Caesar’s Party Supplies who provided balloons.

Marie added: “Thanks to everyone who donated raffle prizes, there are too many to name everyone but they all helped to make this event such a big success.”

The money will help Cancer Research UK support scientists working to cure various forms of cancer, fund clincal trials and lobby for increased government investment to allow patients access to the care and services they need.

However, despite this success Sean isn’t content to rest on his laurels and is already starting to work on his next event.

Sean’s Justgiving page will close soon but there is still time to sneak in a late donation: see https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Sean-Lynch2016.
