Hazelwood opens its doors for a unique experience.

Hazelwood School in Glasgow's southside is a unique establishment providing specialised education for children aged two to 18 with who have some form of sensory impairment, as well as complex learning difficulties.

This Friday, March 10, they’re hosting an event to encourage friends and local residents to visit the school and gain the the opportunity to find out a bit more about the work they do, as well as staging the grand opening of the school’s new sensory room.

Vincent Ferguson, depute headteacher told The Extra: “In collaboration with Hazelwood Vision, we’re inviting anyone who’d like to visit the school to a fundraising event we’re hosting in Hazelwood on Friday March 10 between 7-9pm.

“Named ‘A Celebration of the Senses’ it will give our guests the opportunity to experience some of the difficulties faced by those with a sensory impairment, whilst participating in some of the activities that our pupils experience every day such as massage therapy, rebound therapy, music therapy and mobility training.

“We will be giving tours of the school, and we are also looking forward to showing off our new sensory room that was installed over the summer.”

Tickets for this very special event are only £5 which includes refreshments. Under 16s go free! Why not pop along and give your support to a very special school.
