House price increases in East Renfrewshire are greater than in most of Scotland

House prices in East Renfrewshire increased by more than the average for Scotland in June this year, according to the latest figures.

The rise contributes to the longer-term trend, which has seen property prices in the area achieve 6.2 per cent annual growth.

The average East Renfrewshire house price in June was £235,221, a 2.5 per cent increase on May.

Over the month, prices across Scotlandincreased by 0.7 per cent.

Over the last year, the average sale price of property in East Renfrewshire rose by £14,000, putting the area fourth among Scotland’s 32 local authorities for annual growth.

Owners of flats saw the biggest improvement in property prices in East Renfrewshire in June – they increased 3.2 per cent, to £130,053 on average..

Average prices for other types of properties in East Renfrewshire:

• Detached: £398,577

• Semi-detached: £231,470

• Terraced: £179,695

First-time buyers in East Renfrewshire spent an average of £ 177,000 on their property, £10,000 more than a year ago, and £38,000 more than in June 2014.

By comparison, former owner-occupiers paid £ 270,000 on average in June.
