It is believed the gulls are being protective of new-born chicks.

One woman took to a local community Facebook site to warn others.

She posted: If you are walking along the bottom stretch of Loch Road at the flats, seagulls are swooping at animals.

“They tried to go for my
labrador. It’s the same if you are trying to walk past the front of the miners club.”

One man posted: “They have young chicks just now. They are only protecting their young but they are very scary.”

Another posted there were gulls nesting in their neighbour’s chimney.

She said: “We are getting swooped at and dive bombed when walking down the drive.”
