It has also qualified for the much coveted Rotary International Presidential Citation.

Club President Bob Tomlinson said: “It’s capped off what’s been a great year of
action for Kirkintilloch.”

One member is a co-ordinator with the G66 Covid
Reponse Team.

Bob said: “She told the club what was needed to help people in Bishopbriggs, Lennoxtown, Kirkintilloch and Lenzie, and members hit their charity account and donated thousands of pounds to help people in the G66 area.”

The club last met physically at Kirkintilloch Golf Club on March 10 and took the decision not to close during the pandemic. They felt it it was Rotary’s job to take action. They’ve met everyweek through Zoom and last week 60 people attended. Ten new members have joined.

Before Covid struck the club had been raising money to fight polio worldwide. This involved local youth organisations, schools, Zippos Circus, Gala days in G66 and a bowling competition at Auchinloch with teams from Bishopbriggs, Irvine. Lenzie, Kirkintilloch and Oban taking part.

Bob said: “These activities raised cash to immunise about 30,000 children. A fantastic effort.”
