Newton Mearns couple launch Wicked Windows competition for Rebecca Rocks charity

This Halloween a Scottish Charity is organising a spooky competition to see who has the scariest window display.

Rebecca Rocks, a charity working with CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) is asking you to decorate the windows of your house or business to try to make Halloween 2020 more fun.

2020 has been pretty tough and Rebecca Rocks wants to spread some (scary) joy across Scotland!

Rebecca Rocks was set up by Andrea and Alistair McKeown after the death of their 2 year old daughter in 2009.

Over the last 11 years they have raised over £80,000 for the children and families of Robin House Children’s Hospice. Fundraisers have run, walked, swam, baked, walked on fire, abseiled off the Forth Rail Bridge and much more over the years, but in 2020 they are decorating their windows to put some fun into what has been a trying time.

Every penny raised through their JustGiving site has been spent on tickets to events and concerts for the families of Robin House and on the annual Rebecca Rocks Festival, exclusive to the children and families of Robin House.

Andrea said: “Halloween 2020 will be like no other. For those decorating their windows and all the people who will enjoy seeing their scary displays as they walk by, take a few moments to think of our lovely Rebecca who didn’t get a lifetime of Halloween memories. Your donations make happy memories for so many families who need them most.

“We want to make this Halloween fun for people while keeping safe.”

Alistair said: “Covid-19 has clearly taken its toll and we would like to spread a little joy through our communities.

To get involved is really easy. To enter just donate £5 (or more) on our Wicked Windows JustGiving page then email us on RebeccaRockCHAS@gmail.com and we will send you a display poster for your window and a number.”

Alistair and Andrea started their Wicked Window campaign in Newton Mearns, but entries are coming from all over Scotland.

Windows will be displayed on their social media pages and the one with the most likes”will receive a £40 voucher for their local cafe, The Broom Cafe.
