Stars of stage and screen to take part in virtual quiz in aid of CHAS

Singer Tony Hadley, Outlander actress Caitriona Balfe and Line of Duty star Martin Compston are just some of the top stars who will ask questions during the fun-filled virtual event, which will be jointly hosted by Britain’s Got Talent star Edward Reid and Scottish comedian Fred MacAulay.

The quiz, which promises to be ‘the ultimate girls’ night in’, has been organised in place of four CHAS ladies lunches and the annual Rocking Horse Ball, which have all been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Other celebrities, who will also ask questions, are popular Scottish comedian Janey Godley, Sanjeev Kohli from Still Game, long-time CHAS supporter and singer Michelle McManus, popular presenter Gail Porter, Gotham actor Sean Pertwee, Jojo Rabbit’s Roman Griffin, star of stage and screen Jodie Prenger, and Great British Sewing Bee judge Patrick Grant.

Sports presenter Gabby Logan and her former Scotland rugby star husband Kenny Logan will also test the audience’s knowledge in a sports round, as will former Olympic champion, Denise Lewis.

Other topics include music, chick-flicks and showbiz and there will also be music, singing and dancing on the night plus as a raffle with top prizes to be won.

Olympus has Fallen trilogy actor, Gerard Butler, who is originally from Paisley, will be challenging ladies on their knowledge of his films, all the way from his Hollywood home.

Urging women across Scotland to get behind this “fabulous fundraising event”, the 50-year superstar said: “I know it’s hard for everybody just now but especially for charities who rely on donations.

“CHAS is a beautiful organisation that provides palliative care, family respite and support throughout Scotland and right now those families are needing your help more than ever.

“So on Friday 5th June, CHAS will host its first ever Big Girly Quiz on Facebook Live. We will challenge you on all your knowledge of movies, music, fashion and so much more, so get a group of your friends together, virtually of course, and join me and other surprise guests on the night. Together we can really get through this.”

Like many other charities in the current pandemic, CHAS has had to dramatically transform the way in which it operates. While both Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch are continuing to provide end of life care, the charity has also set up the UK’s first ever virtual children’s hospice to support families who are having to completely self-isolate.

Now in its second month, the virtual hospice offers extensive support to families by phone and video on clinical guidance, financial advice and bereavement support. CHAS family support teams also offer a range of interactive activities, art clubs, storytelling and friendship calls to children and parents.
