Saturday was a special day for members of Lodge Thorntree No.512 – for it marked the exact date of the founding of the lodge 150 years ago.

Celebrations at the Thornliebank-based lodge in 1871 included a visit by the Grand Master Mason of Scotland, Bro. Ramsay McGhee who conducted a commemoration ceremony followed by a celebration dinner.

When the lodge’s charter was granted Thornliebank was just a small village dominated by the huge chimneys of the Printfield Calico Print and Dyeworks.
