Water cut off to some Newton Mearns households

A number of homes in Newton Mearns were left without water this morning (Monday, June 22).

However, water supplies are now restoring for people in the area.

The interruption to the water supply this morning was due to a fire hydrant which was running water.

Because of the volume of water being drawn from the network from this hydrant, this led to an increased demand on the network which left customers without supply during peak times this morning.

Scottish Water estimates it will take up to an hour for all customers to have their water supply restored.

The water supply will gradually come in to service for customers during this period.
