Planners give housing plans the green light

Planners have given the go-ahead for 52 new homes to be built on a former factory site which has long been an eyesore.

East Dunbartonshire Council’s planning board voted through the plans by Springfield Properties for the Lillyburn Works site, in Milton of Campsie.

Derelict buildings on the site have long been a safety concern for residents.

The development will include 10 terraced, 14 semi-detached and 28 detached homes, ranging from two to four bedrooms.

The plans have been welcomed by Campsie and Kirkintilloch North councillor David Ritchie.

He said: “I’m delighted this eyesore will be sorted, it’s really good news for the community of Milton of Campsie.”
