Planning permission granted for development on former Whitecraigs Bowling Club Site

· The ‘art deco’ original bowling pavilion will be retained, creating a showpiece for the development

Housebuilders Mactaggart & Mickel Homes have been given planning permission to build an exclusive development of six bespoke properties on the site of the former Whitecraigs bowling club.

Work is due to begin on site in Autumn next year.

The showpiece of the development will be the former ‘art deco’ bowling pavilion which will be retained, adapted and extended to create a luxury bungalow-style family home.

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes created the original and much-loved Broom Estate in the 1930s and their designs will incorporate the same striking architecture as they built nearly a century ago, to blend seamlessly into the conservation area.

To complement the style of that period, all the properties will be detached with white walls, red brick bases and tall chimneys. The spacious luxury homes will include one three-bedroom home, one four-bedroom home and four five-bedroom homes, all with private driveways and garages.
