Three homes would be created in the conversion of a former stable courtyard, and four split-level family homes would be built in the old walled gardens.

The new houses are proposed for land lying on the right of the current driveway into the hotel, which is itself a Grade A-listed building. The applicant on the plans submitted to South Lanarkshire Council is listed as the Cartland’s sister hotel, the Scores Hotel in St Andrews.
