Poetry event for youngsters come to Pollok storytelling centre

A poetry reading and touring event will come to Glasgow later this month aimed at young poetry fans.

Village Storytelling Centre in Pollok will host three days of poetry events for children. Poets will read from the book Falling Out of the Sky: Poems about Myths and Monsters.

Primary school children will come to the centre for poetry and storytelling from award-winning poets Rachel Piercey and Richard O’Brien.

The cent4re’s Lauren Bianchi said: ‘We are really excited to be part of the tour and to be bringing professional poets to them.

‘We are particularly looking forward to the Myths and Monsters poetry tour to inspire

young people with the intricacies and the twists and turns of language and how they can create their

own worlds through poetry.’

This children’s book is a first for publishers Emma Press.

Publisher Emma Wright said: ‘We hope that our events inspire children with a sense of ownership of both language and stories, and that we contribute to their ongoing enjoyment of literature.’
