While still trying to recover from the blow, the attacker made off.

The victim made his way home before phoning the police; no description of the assailant is currently available.

Shortly afterwards, at about ten to one in the morning of December 27, a separate incident took place outside the the Southfield Hotel in Kirkmuirhill when a man in the car park was struck on the back of the head and fell to the ground. The attack then continued, leaving the man with facial and body injuries.

Again, the injured man managed to get home and then contacted the police. The victim thinks that there were three attackers in total but was unable to describe any of them.

Anyone who may have witnessed these incidents or who may have any information regarding them should contact Lanark Police on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
