Police have arrested a 27-year-old woman in connection with alleged drugs offences, following the death of young Kirkintilloch amateur boxer Richie Carrigan on Saturday.

The woman was arrested after a search at a house at Hillhead Road on Sunday, January 11.

A police spokeswoman said she had been due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

Father-of-two Richie was pronounced dead after being taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary on Saturday.

Two other men, aged 16 and 23, were also taken to hospital after the incident at Waterloo Close in Kirkintilloch.

Police and the NHS issued a drugs warning to the public after the incident and were looking into the possibility that rogue ecstasy tablets were involved.

The Herald understands the drugs recovered at the property do not match the description of those it is suspected were involved in Mr Carrigan’s death.
