Police issue warning after spate of thefts from cars and homes

Be more security conscious with your home and cars - that’s the message from police after an increase in reports of thefts in North Lanarkshire.

A designated police team have been tasked to deal with problem and have come across a number of insecure properties and vehicles throughout the northern corridor.

Two men, aged 22 and 32, are due to appear in court after being arrested in relation to a number of incidents involving theft of vehicles and housebreakings during July.

The men were arrested in the early hours of Thursday, July 25, after the stolen Audi they were travelling in was captured by police in the Lindsaybeg Road area of Chryston. Further inquiries revealed the car had only recently been stolen from the Smithstone area of Cumbernauld.
