Police officer dies during shooting at station

A POLICE officer has died after being shot at Baird Street Police Office.

The tragic incident took place earlier today (Monday) at the Springburn station.

Strathclyde Police has not yet confirmed the details surrounding the incident, but said that officers from an independent force, Lothian and Borders Police have been appointed to oversee the investigation.

A spokesperson for Strathclyde Police said: “An incident occurred within Baird Street Police Office whereby a firearm was discharged. This resulted in the death of a serving Strathclyde Police Officer.

“A full investigation into the circumstances is currently underway and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. “

In accordance with ACPOS guidelines, officers from an independent Force, Lothian and Borders Police, have been appointed to oversee the investigation.”
