Police search for missing Pollok man

George McCarrick (31), was last seen by family in Glenesk Crescent, Darnley, Glasgow, around 5pm on the Tuesday evening.

He is described as 5 ft 8 to 5 ft 10 in height, of medium build, with short dirty fair hair, blue eyes, a ruddy complexion and is clean shaven.

Despite an extensive search by police, there have been no further sightings of him and family and friends are becoming concerned for his well-being.

Inspector Andy Small, Pollok Police Office, said: “Mr McCarrick, who suffers from memory loss, leads a somewhat itinerant lifestyle and rather than staying at a specific address, tends to stay with friends and family who he usually keeps in touch with. However, as no one had heard from him for a good while, his family contacted police this week to report him missing.

“He is quite well-known in the Pollok area and frequents the Glasgow City Centre and Clydeside areas as well as the north of Scotland - Tain area of Ross-shire – where he has friends.

“He usually gets lifts from friends to get to Glasgow rather than using public transport, however, I would appeal to bus or taxi drivers or indeed anyone who recognises his photo or knows of his whereabouts to contact police.

“I would also appeal directly to George to get in touch to let us know he is safe.”

Anyone who has any information or knowledge as to his whereabouts is asked to contact officers at Pollok Police Office on the non-emergency number 101.
