Police seize half a tonne of cannabis

Two men are set to appear in court today (February 1) after police found half a tonne of cannabis in a garage.

The men, aged 41 and 28, have been arrested and charged with offences contrary to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 following the successful police operation which uncovered the drugs in a property in Springburn.

Police say they recovered approximately 495 kilos (half a tonne) of cannabis resin with an estimated potential street value of £618,000.

Detective Chief Inspector Kenny Gray said: “This was a significant seizure of controlled drugs that was destined for our streets and shows the commitment of Police Scotland to actively pursuing those suspected of supplying controlled drugs.
