Bellshill’s spirit of festive giving

Bellshill Community Council has given Santa a run for his money.

Firstly they have accessed funding with Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre and Social Care Consortium through Community Solutions to provide iPads for residents at Hattonlea care home.

Chairwoman Angela Scott explained: “We are really pleased to do our part in helping loved ones see each other at Hattonlea during this festive season. The iPads will be used to allow relatives who may be self isolating to FaceTime their loved ones.”

But it didn’t end there as the community council has also helped to provide a Christmas tree in the town, which will also act as the focal point for St Andrew’s Hospice’ Light up a Life appeal. This has been enabled with funding from councillors Angela Campbell and Jordan Linden and help from local businesses.

Councillor Linden said: “I’ve been so proud to work with their dedicated and caring team of office bearers or members. They truly are a shining example of the importance of working together for our communities and I thank them for everything they are doing for the people of Bellshill.”
