Thornton Road Community Centre flings open its doors

The centre is being run for and by the local community and will be providing social and leisure activities alongside cultural activities.

Dr Cameron commended the organisers and local constituents who had done so much work to ensure that the centre will be sustainable into the future.

Lisa said: “It is an absolute privilege to officially open the Thornton Road Community Centre which will be run for Blackwood and Kirkmuirhill residents by local constituents.

“I’d particularly like to thank Dennis White for all of his work in ensuring that this was achieved, and to present a cheque to the Centre for £100 on its opening day, which can be put towards activities for local constituents”
