Pollok Park '˜stars' in Outlander

If you are one of the many people tuning in to fantasy-history series Outlander for the first time you may just notice a familiar south side scene.

The show is on UK terrestrial for the first time, screening on Thursday evenings.

The story traces the adventures of a woman who finds herself whisked back to the days of the Jacobite Rising of ‘45, and features landmark locations including Blackness Castle and Preston Mill in East Linton.

But while Doune Castle is the setting of Castle Leoch, which plays an important part in the story, the shots of the well-tended grounds of Leoch were filmed in Pollok Country Park.

Although it has been viewed by countless thousands in the US, where it was a runaway success, Outlander (which could run to five or more series) has until now only been available in the UK as box set DVDs.
