Pope's visit to Scotland

THE Pope's visit to Scotland has boosted trade for a Cumbernauld firm.

Highland Galvanizers & Colour Coaters landed a six-figure contract to treat over 1,000 metres of fencing to be erected at Bellahouston Park, where Pope Benedict XVI was due to say mass to around 65,000 people later today (Thursday).

Paul McCafferty, sales director of Highland, said: "We're just one of a number of local businesses who have benefited from the Pope's visit.

"We galvanized almost 70 tonnes of fencing at our Cumbernauld facility, which is a significant amount, and we used our Colourgalv process to colour powder coat the steel which will ensure that it remains colourfast for over 25 years, and corrosion free for decades beyond."
