An Action Group was formed in the area around Kildare Park after parents expressed their growing alarm over the flooding there and the poor state of the footpaths.

Some claimed that Kildare Park was fast becoming a danger to local children, many of whom use the park en route to the adjoining Lanark Primary School.

They took their call for improvements and repairs to Lanark Community Council earlier this year and its chairman, Frank Gunning, reports that the Group’s calls appear to have been heeded by the parks authority, South Lanarkshire Council, which has commttted £90,000 to upgrade paths and drainage.
