Primary kids take part in national cycle safety drive

The drive to raise awareness of dangers that can occur when enough space is not left by cars overtaking cyclists has been funded by Transport Scotland.

It asks people to leave as much space for bikes as they would for cars, especially for children or young people.

Cycling Scotland Chief Executive, Keith Irving, said: “We’re delighted to be working with East Dunbartonshire Council to deliver led rides and route planning to enable young people to plan their cycle journeys to school and elsewhere, especially as they make more independent journeys from Primary 5 onwards.”

School pupils were involved with workshops to encourage more of them to get on their bikes and do so safely.
