Lord Provost Docherty described the award winners as having made a ‘significant contribution’ to the city’s success.

Taylor said: “We were honoured and humbled to be recognised by the city where we’ve developed our business.

“It’s lovely recognition not only for us but our hard-working team who help us make the business tick on a daily basis.

“Over the years we’ve travelled to hair shows all over the world and we are always delighted to wave the flag for Glasgow and tell our international audiences about the city and Scotland.”

Anne added: “I’ve always been happy for Taylor to be seen as the face of the business so it was extra special for me to be named too and join him on the presentation stage. We were also able to have our son and grandson join our colleagues for the event so it was a nice family affair.”

Taylor who followed his mum Patricia into the family business in Lanarkshire before setting up his own salon in the heart of Glasgow is no stranger to award ceremonies. He was given a lifetime achievement award in the inaugural Scottish Health and Beauty Awards 2011.

He’s a past winner of the Northern Hairdresser of the Year title and was a finalist in both the British Hairdresser of the Year and Avant Garde Hairdresser of the Year Awards.

His salon has welcomed a number of celebrities including Penny Lancaster, Rachel Hunter and Billy Connolly.
