Publishers insist there is no truth to job loss rumours

Bosses at a publishing company have quashed rumours that workers could be facing redundancy or wage cuts.

HarperCollins publishers, basedat Westerhill Road in Bishopbriggs, recently lost a major contract and employees were worried about their jobs after temporary staff were let go.

But a HarperCollins spokesperson told the Herald: “There are no redundancies or wage cuts at our distribution centre at Bishopbriggs.

“HarperCollins currently employ more than 160 full time staff at the DC.

“We can confirm that we are currently in consultation with the union regarding our small temporary workforce of eight people.”

A union representative confirmed that a meeting was scheduled to take place this week.
