Pupils attain record results

The long wait for anxious pupils, parents and teachers ended this week as their exam results were delivered.

And this year’s results published, by Scottish Qualifications Authority reveal North Lanarkshire to have recorded their best set of results.

Education convener Councillor Frank McNally said: “North Lanarkshire’s exam success is at an all time high with more young people than ever before gaining awards at all levels.

“Our schools have been awarded a fantastic report card with exam results up, and affirms our determination to improve the life chances of young people in North Lanarkshire.”

Councillor McNally was also keen to praise those who helped the pupils make the results possible.

He said: “I want to thank all our staff for providing high quality learning and teaching to our pupils and continuing to build on the successes of previous years. I also want to pay tribute to parents and carers who provide support to pupils.”

Councillor McNally went on to urge those who didn’t achieve their desired results not to panic.

He said: “We have support available for pupils who haven’t achieved the grades they were expecting. They should contact their school where teachers are on hand to offer support and discuss alternative options.”
