The first year students planted over 500 wildflowers in King George V Park in Bearsden as part of the John Muir Award project, an environmental award which aims to help people connect with nature.

The pupils were assisted by members of the Streetscene Technical Support Team, who supplied the pot grown wildflowers such as Betony, Meadow Cranesbill, Goats Beard and Cowslip.

By taking part in this nature project the pupils have learned a great deal about wildflowers and how they attract vital species of insects and butterflies to an area.

Boclair Academy head teacher Douglas Brown said: “The pupils have worked hard to discover, explore and conserve local wild spaces and then share their learning by taking part in classroom work inspired by their time outdoors.”
