Pupils net a famous win

Schools from all over East Dunbartonshire recently took part in a successful sporting event.

The Bishopbriggs Netball Gala tournament took place at Turnbull High School over a full day earlier this year.

A tough competition saw each school play three group games before a final determined the untimate champion.

The talented girls from St Matthew’s Primary School netted a clean sweep in the group stages - winning all three matches.

They then took on the table toppers from group 2 - Balmuildy Primary School - in a winner-takes-all contest.

St Matthew’s were victorious.

It was the first time the school has won the shield in 20 years of trying.

Pupils and teachers thanked the organisers for all their hard work.
