Followers cheered as the baton passed by and they didn’t let the heavy summer downpour dampen their enthusiasim.

From Bearsden to Twechar and all the towns and villages in between, local residents tunred out in force to mark the special occasion.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games kick off on Wednesday with a special opening ceremony at Celtic Park.
