Race is on to raise money in memory of brave Maya

A group of friends are getting their running shoes on to raise funds in memory of a brave little girl who died suddenly from cancer.

Maya McLaughlin (9) of Lennoxtown passed away from Burkitt’s lymphoma in 2010 after a relapse from remission.

The team of seven, led by Denise Gardner, are taking part in the Great Woman’s 10k on Sunday, May 17 in aid of charity Calum’s Cabin, which provides holiday respite
for families coping with terminal illness.

The Commercial Inn at Lennoxtown is also supporting the women in their fundraising efforts and is staging a social night after Sunday’s race.

Denise said: “We hope to raise a good bit of money. We have sponsors forms and have had a lot of support.”
