Race that keeps Moira Jones' memory alive

She headed the prosecution of Moira’s murderer in 2009 in a trial lasting nearly three weeks.

The run both honours Moira’s memory and raises funds to give practical help to the nearest and dearest of murder victims at a time when they are at their lowest ebb.

This year the route has changed slightly from previous years and is a more undulating course, however is said to remain a very achievable run.

The warm-up will start at 10.15am for a 10.30am start, and race numbers, safety pins and Winning Time timing chips will be issued between 9am and 10am at race registration.

The entry fee is £12.50, and all runners will receive a medal, a goody bag and a bottle of water at the finish line. The run is open to anyone aged 14 or over on the day of the event.

The race starts in the Langside Road area, and clear route maps will be posted at Registration.

The route is well signposted, and the organisers are being assisted by a number of voluntary marshals.

Gift voucher prizes, will be awarded on the day to the first three runners to finish the race.

The Moira Fund is wholly dependent on unpaid volunteers and fund-raising.

The running costs are “very low” and any donation made will be used, almost entirely, to help those distressed through homicide.
