Redhurst Hotel hosts Christmas party for school children

The Manorview Hotels & Leisure Group has given a group of excited school children an early Christmas present.

The hotel group invited 100 children from Haghill Park Primary in Glasgow’s east end to a party at the Redhurst Hotel in Giffnock.

The group was co-ordinated by Glasgow-based charity Achieve More Scotland who work closely with the school.

The children, from primary three to seven, were treated to an evening of music, dancing, food, soft drinks and ice cream.

A DJ made sure the dance floor was crowded, and a group comprising two singers and two dancers were also employed by the hotel to perform some of the children’s favourite musical songs. All the children left at the end of the night, exhausted from dancing, and with a little gift to take home.

Achieve More provides facilities for boys and girls in some of the most deprived areas in Scotland. They offer football coaching, dancing classes and life skills at no cost to the young people who participate.

Steve Graham, managing director, Manorview Hotels & Leisure Group, said: “We’re very lucky to be in a position where we can make a difference, and it means a lot to us when our teams make this happen.”

Shelagh Delahunt, head teacher, Haghill Park Primary School, said: “What a fantastic reception we got from the Redhurst Hotel, the children had an absolute ball. From our arrival to our departure the staff at Manorview Hotels couldn’t have done more for us. The children loved the entertainment and particularly enjoyed the dancing. It was amazing to see our children having such a great time and really taking part in this Christmas extravaganza. We would never have been able to hold such a party and for some children it will be a lasting memory of Christmas. We cannot thank the Manorview team enough and feel privileged to have been invited.”

The children were quoted as saying “That was the best party EVER!” and “When I am bigger I want to work at a party like that!”

Robert McHarg, CEO, Achieve More Scotland, said: “We’re grateful to have the support of the Manorview Hotel Group. This was a fantastic event for some of our young people. It’s great to work in collaboration with Manorview and to help give our young people some wonderful memories and experiences.”
