Richard Calveley, Biggar, prepares for Arctic Challenge

AS Scotland gets set for another cold winter, one local is preparing to trek across the Arctic Circle – where temperatures plummet to -40 degrees!

Richard Calveley, from Biggar, will be trekking and sledging over 200 kilometres in seven days from his base camp into the wilds of the Arctic.

The trek is in aid of the Rangers Charity Foundation, which is supporting UNICEF and The Prostate Cancer Charity, Scotland.

For more information on Richard’s cool challenge, pick up a copy of this week’s Carluke and Lanark Gazette which is in the shops now.
