The eagerly-awaited facility in Muirfoot Road got swamped by Rigside Primary pupils coming out of school at five past three on Friday, April 25.

“The playpark was packed as soon as the school emptied,” said Rigside Playparks Group secretary Linda Ferguson.

The youngsters were thrilled to see a replacement for the delapidated former playpark built way back in 1996 – which vandalism and general wear and tear had reduced to four swings and a tyre.

But the upgraded site now boasts a tyre swing, zip slide, four swings, toddler adventure area with chute, climbing area, see-saw, ‘springy’, climbing frame and new matting.

“This new playpark was desperately needed,” Linda said.
