R&W Scott of Carluke wins Lanarkshire Business Award

R&W Scott of Carluke won the Lanarkshire Food and Drink Award at the 20th Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards.

The trophy was presented by another recipient, Boyd Tunnock, who received a special Outstanding Contribution to Business Award at the same glittering ceremony.

The firm has been manufacturing jam from its base in Carluke for more than 130 years. It plans to double its £10 million turnover in the next three years and has recently invested £750,000 in its 60-strong workforce, plant, factory and new products.

Managing director John Easton told the Gazette: “I’d like to thank all the staff on our Carluke site; they have been looking for investment and opportunities which we have now been able to deliver.

“I’d also like to thank Strategem for staging such a fantastic night, Tunnock’s for its sponsorship and South and North Lanarkshire Council for hosting the event.

“While R&W Scott is part of a business which has a three quarter of a billion turnover, we work as an independent company within that.

“It’s an old business with a fine heritage, which we are proud of and try to utilise. We want to be an active participator and promoter of the community in Carluke.”
