Salvation Army marks 150 years

The Salvation Army, which has charity shops in Kirkintilloch and Lenzie, celebrates its 150th anniversary this month.

The church and charity was founded in East London in 1865 by visionary Methodist minister 
William Booth and his wife Catherine.

Today, it operates in 126 countries and is a leading provider of social services in the United Kingdom.
