Maureen Taylor, boss of the Equi Centre, led out 51 riders in festive costumes, with many of the horses sporting Christmas decorations too.

The Santa Dash was escorted by police down the High Street, where Santa - the real one?? - picked up presents at the Tolbooth, for the Clydesdale New Beginnings Christmas Appeal.

The riders waited for him, then clopped their way back up the other side of the High Street in the direction of the North Pole - or their base at Lanark Racecourse!

The Ride Out was one of the attractions of the Festive Taste of Lanark.
